CNN Money reports that in 2005, 1.8 million workers spent half of their time working from home. That number has almost doubled as of 2015 to a whopping 3.9 million (not including freelancers). Some reports show that full-time telecommuting can save you more than $4000 per year on things like gas, parking, public transportation, eating out and dry cleaning.

Employees aren’t the only beneficiary of the telecommuter or ‘work at home’ job - employee. The employers can also see savings by providing their employees a more flexible schedule.

It’s reported that employers save somewhere around $11,000 per year when they allow their employees to work from home at least half the time. In many cases, this savings leads to higher paying home job employments.

In addition, by offering work at home jobs, employers have increased both their retention and even recruiting. Working outside the office has proven beneficial to both the employee and employer. And it’s here to stay.
